Latest Media reports indicate that at least 16 people have been killed, several others are still missing, hundreds have been injured and thousands have been made homeless in the Emillia Romagna region.
This earthquake is located approximately 40 km NNW of Bologna and 350 km NNW of Rome, in the same region as a magnitude 6.0 event on 20 May 2012 which killed seven people in the region and damaged several buildings.
