Epicentre is around 35 km east of the magnitude 7.6 Mw earthquake that occurred on 19 September 2022, approximately 240 km southwest of Morelia, the capital of the state of Michoacan and 425 km WSW of Mexico City. Felt strongly throughout the region. Latest reports indicate that one person has been killed, several others have been injured and that additional damage has occurred in the state of Michoacan. No tsunami warning/advisory was issued.
