Epicentre was approximately 120 km SE of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky where violent shaking was reported, along with damage to buildings and several injuries. The earthquake triggered tsunami waves of 3-5 meters along the east coast of Kamchatka and activated evacuation orders for coastal regions across the Pacific, including Hawaii where 1.3m waves were reported. The mainshock was followed by a magnitude 6.9 aftershock 44 minutes later.
