Felt Turkey, Syria, Armenia, Georgia, Iraq, Cyprus and Lebanon. At least 264 people were injured, some 28 buildings were destroyed and more than 500 others were damaged. The majority of the damage and casualties occurred in Malatya and Elazig. This event locates approximately 200 km northeast of the magnitude 7.8 Mw earthquake that occurred on 6 February 2023, which as part of a sequence of earthquakes in Turkey on that day, killed at least 52,900 people, injured over 129,400 others and caused widespread damage throughout the region.
