Epicentre was 126km WNW of Ternate city, Indonesia (population ~200,000). Strong shaking was felt in Ternate as well as the city of Bitung, NE Sulawesi (population ~200,000). Minor to moderate damage has been reported in these areas as well as one fatality. Tsunamis were recorded in several locations on the Indonesian coast, the highest being 0.75m, however the threat has now passed.
