Epicentre was 28km SSW Glan (population ~110,000) and 58km south of General Santos (population ~700,000), where very strong shaking was reported - resulting in the colapse of several small buildings. At least 12 people have died and more than 100 have been injured. A tsunami warning was issued parts of the Philippines,Indonesia and Malaysia however the threat has now passed, with tsunami waves reaching 1.4m observed on the Philippine coast. The mainshock was followed by a magnitude 6.7 aftershock 73 minutes later.
